Ivory-Billed Woodpecker & Dead Tree Flute
The totem is made from redwood and poplar. I have used glass eyes to add the realism of this beautiful bird. There is extreme detail in the feathers, and my wife has brought this great bird to life with her artistry. The bottom front of this flute is a relief carving of a dead tree. I wanted to keep this flute simple due to the brilliant colors of the Woodpecker. The leather straps are elk hide which are soft but strong.
I made this flute for my wife's son, whom is Native American of the Rose Bud Sioux. He has often commented on my flutes and wanted one that was a lower key. He is truly gifted on the drums and enjoys music. He lives life to the fullest, and I am truly proud of him.
The Ivory-Billed Woodpecker was considered extinct but was rediscovered in Eastern Arkansas. This beautiful bird weighs up to 1 pound and is approximately 20 inches long. Its long bill is ivory in color, thus giving this woodpecker his name. The females are similar but smaller, and their crests are black. This flute starts at $190.00.
